Health Workforce Advocacy Initiative
Achievements
Over the last five years, the HWAI network has played a key role in increasing attention and resources globally for human resources for health. Examples of accomplishments and activities include:
- Creation and dissemination of an advocacy toolkit for health professionals to engage in health workforce advocacy
- Contribution to the drafting and passage of the WHO Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel
- Advocacy for a strong Global Fund role in HRH and health system strengthening
- Preparation of Guiding Principles for National Health Workforce Strategies
- Health workforce advocacy specifically targeted to donor countries (including at G8 summits, to the International Monetary Fund, the International Health Partnership, the World Health Organization, and others)
