Dr. Saidou Ekoye
Doctor Ekoye's passionate and committed leadership resulted in the improvement of health worker productivity and motivation in Niger's Tahoua region. Through an innovative Quality Improvement (QI) collaborative, Dr. Ekoye wrote specific job descriptions for all staff, something unheard of prior to Dr. Ekoye's arrival. He also launched a comprehensive evaluation procedure to monitor staff progress and reward health workers demonstrating outstanding performance.
Thanks to these changes, postpartum haemorrhage during pregnancy has been reduced by half, and more women in labour are using the clinic for the delivery of their babies.
