First-ever Global Forum on health worker crisis opens in Kampala, Uganda
The first-ever Global Forum on Human resources for Health opened in Kampala today (Monday 3 March), to the sound of the Watoto Children’s Choir, who welcomed almost 1000 participants to the five-day event (2-7 March)that will focus on the issue of resolving the health workforce crisis and generate immediate, significant and effective action.

Leadership, education and training and management top the Tuesday agenda at First Global Forum
Leadership, education and training and management were the key focus issues for day one of the First Global Forum on Human Resources for Health (Tuesday 4 March). Over 1300 participants joined in three plenary sessions and related break-out meetings to discuss these essential issues and their role in the resolution of the health workforce crisis.

First Global Forum adopts Agenda for Global Action
The First Global Forum on Human Resources for Health completed the second and final day of its action conference section today with the approval by acclamation of its Agenda for Global Action and the Kampala Declaration. These documents will set the course over the next ten years for coordinated, collective international and national efforts to resolve the crisis in the global health workforce.

Lively discussions and sharing of experiences at the skills building workshops
Yesterdays approval of the Agenda for Global Action by the participants in the First Global Forum on Human Resources for Health, along with their acceptance of the Kampala Declaration, generated sustained enthusiasm today for the various Skill Building Workshops that constitute the bulk of the remainder of the meeting.
