HIV and human resources: competing priorities or interconnected solutions?

This report summarizes the proceedings of a satellite meeting held at the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico in 2008.
The meeting concluded that a solution to the AIDS crisis requires attention to HRH challenges, and in turn the momentum of the AIDS response can be harnessed to address health workforce problems. Furthermore there was consensus on the need to combat stigma and discrimination by including relevant skills and competencies in pre-service and in-service training curricula.
