A realist evaluation of the management of a well- performing regional hospital in Ghana
Case study
In this case study, the human resource management approach included a combination of HRH practices like, training and personnel development by full time in-services training coordinator; decentralized decision making with a moderate level of autonomy in decision making and objective setting; team work by involving all levels in decision making; information sharing - formal communication channels were in place at all levels; good physical working condition; and good accessibility of top managers etc.
This management intervention in Ghana not only increased the effectiveness of health workers but also the job satisfaction, resulting in organizational efficiency and performance.
