This is the report of a technical consultation on developing a framework and identifying methodology for tracking health workforce imbalances.
The meeting participants agreed on a framework that identifies labour market needs as a function of population health needs. Principles on indicators and monitoring strategies to track health workforce imbalances were developed, and areas for further research identified.
