Job satisfaction and its modeling among township health center employees: a quantitative study in poor rural China

Township healthcare centers provide primary health care services to population in rural China. In 2004, the Chinese Ministry of Health and Kadoorie Foundation in Hong Kong launched a rural community health project with the purpose of improving the overall conditions of THCs in rural China.
The purpose of this study was to assess the level of job satisfaction among health care workers in THCs in rural China covered by the project and to identify the determinants of job satisfaction and to develop strategies to improve job satisfaction, motivation and retention of the staff in the THCs.
