Global Health Workforce Alliance: sharing experiences

This report summarizes the proceedings of a consultation event held in Lusaka, Zambia, in 2006 on key issues related to the health workforce crisis.
The meeting participants highlighted the severity and complexity of the HRH crisis, and identified the need for solutions focusing on recruitment, remuneration, retirement and re-entry. Moreover the need for quick wins- for instance through the establishment of mid-level cadres - was identified. Recommendations were provided on the role of the Global Health Workforce Alliance.
