Nurse versus doctor management of HIV-infected patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (CIPRA-SA): a randomized non-inferiority trial
Peer reviewed article
This randomized non-inferiority trial compares the outcome of ART care provided by Nurses versus the care provided by a doctor to HIV-infected persons in South African primary health clinics.
The results of this study show that care provided by nurses is not inferior to a doctor monitored therapy. Suggesting that access to treatment can be expanded by shifting tasks from doctors to other cadres of health workers in resource poor settings.
