Capitation, salary, fee-for-service and mixed systems of payment: effects on the behaviour of primary care physicians
This review evaluates the impact of different payment system like capitation, fee for services, salary and mixed system of payment that affect the clinical behavior of the primary care physicians.
The purpose of the review is to find evidence on 1. Impact of different payment methods on job satisfaction. 2. If quality of care under fee for service payment was higher than that provided under capitation method or salaried physicians? 3. Whether fee for service or capitation change pattern and type of care provided 4. Difference in access to care due to different payment methods. 5. If different methods of payment resulted in changes in clinical outcome and health status of patients.
