In 2009 the Routine Health Information Network (RHINO) completed its first full year as a non-governmental organization (NGO).
Growing out of the RHINO Network formed through a collaborative effort by USAID, the World Bank, WHO and other international organizations in 2001 and funded by USAID through the USAID MEASURE/Evaluation Project, a group of committed members formed the RHINO/NGO to continue its work in the field of routine health information systems in resource poor countries
