Informal consultation on scaling up health workforce production

This report contains the proceedings of a consultation on scaling up the production of the health workforce. Participants with different backgrounds and experiences were invited to present their point of view and contribute to the development of a concept paper highlighting the main challenges and some workable policy options for scaling up the production of the health workforce.
Technical, policy and financial issues related to scaling up training need to be addressed through an integrated and comprehensive approach. Case studies and best practices from Kenya, Brazil, Cuba and Venezuela were provided, which include examples of e-learning as a cost-effective scaling up strategy.
