High level dialogue on maximizing positive synergies between Global Health Initiatives and health systems, Venice, Italy, 22-23 June 2009
The Alliance participated in the High level dialogue on maximizing positive synergies between global health initiatives and health systems and took this unique opportunity to highlight the need to address the health workforce crisis.
The Meeting was chaired by WHO Director General Margaret Chan and Maurizio Sacconi. Several high level officials from various international organizations and from the academia participated in the discussions.
The Draft Concluding Statement include a call to "Recognize the urgent need to develop and strengthen the health workforce through increased education and training as well as strategies to sustain and retain all categories of health workers."
