Cendex is a Javeriana University interdisciplinary research center. Its main goals are directed to pursue social development in Colombia and Latin America. Health services research is a very important research area. Cendex has experts specialized on specific health services research areas, as well as professionals in communication and advocacy for political change. Human Resources for Health is both a research and a policy concern.
Main activities
Cendex' main activities include:
- To identify policy and population social needs, market asymmetries and prospective social areas for change;
- To design and execute social development proposals;
- To implement programs and projects with impact on social development; and
- To influence social policy agencies and impulse regulatory interventions.
Links to the health workforce crisis
Cendex has conducted up to five case studies on HRH. These studies covered HRH production, labour market and HRH performance. They have positioned at least three laws related to the HRH: 1) A general law for HRH in Colombia; 2) A law regulatory occupational profiles and competencies technical standards for HRH technicians, 3) An education service regulatory law.
