Centre for Research on Health and Social Care Management (CERGAS) is a research centre based at Bocconi University, in Milan, and operating since 1978.
Main activities
CERGAS Bocconi supports the development of the Italian NHS through rigorous and applicable research. It has contributed to shaping the Italian NHS and have been the reference point for the development of innovative health management systems all over the country. Through applied research projects (200), publications (300 hundreds articles in peer-reviewed journals and 25 books) and a large variety of dissemination activities CERGAS is a leading centre for health management, economics and policy in Italy.

CERGAS has research programmes on HRH topics commissioned by the national Ministry of health, Regions, Local Health Authorities or Hospital Trusts, as well as employers’ organizations. Topics of recent research programmes include: HRH planning, nursing shortage, the role of the temporary work agencies in foreign recruitment, HRH management and motivation, professionalization process of nurses and other allied professions.
