The Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences University (DMIMS) is an academic institution focusing on research. It was awarded the B.C. Roy Award for Research by Her Excellency Shrimati Pratibha Patil, the President of India. Recently, in order to further strengthen and provide impetus to research, a separate department, named “Datta Meghe Department of Post Graduate Education and Research”, has been created. The Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences University consists of:

  • Sharad Pawar Dental College
  • Ravi Nair Physiotherapy College
  • Smt. Radhikabai Meghe Memorial College of Nursing
  • Mahatma Gandhi Ayurved College

Main activities

DMIMS strives to:

  • provide community and quality-centric education in all such branches of learning as may be deemed appropriate from time to time so as to enable students to obtain advantages of University education
  • institute degrees, diplomas, fellowships, certificates and other academic distinctions on the basis of examinations and other permissible methods of evaluation
  • create higher intellectual capacities and abilities towards generation of globally relevant trained health manpower
  • venture into innovations and evidence-based modifications in various domains of educational process as a whole

DMIMS has carried out a number of major projects related to the health workforce crisis, including:

  • a public private partnership creating a primary health centre under the National Rural Health Mission
  • the launch of a community care centre
  • reproductive child health services and research project
  • Savitrabai Phule Janani Suraksha Yojana, an integrated project on maternal and child health
  • Modular Training for medical officers under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme
  • Emergency Obstetric Care - Evaluation in community health centres
  • Training of Accredited social health activists under the National Rural Health Mission
