The International Association of medical doctors of South East Europe/International Association MDSE/ is independent non-governmental organization that provides, promotes and protects the interests and rights of medical doctors of South East Europe. On the initiative of medical doctors of Republic of Srpska and Republic of Serbia, and pursuant to Association and Foundation Act of Republic of Srpska, THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MEDICAL DOCTORS OF SOUTH EAST EUROPE was established on March 21, 2009 as non-governmental organization, and is seated in Bijeljina. Founders of the International Association MDSE are Trade Union of medical doctors of Republic of Srpska, Trade Union Confederation of doctors and pharmacists of Serbia and Association of private practice medical doctors of Republic of Srpska. The Association gathers doctors from Republic of Serbia, Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and now counts 11200 members. For the first President of the Association has been elected Dr Miodrag Femic, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, who works in General Hospital "Sveti vracevi" in Bijeljina. He is also the President of Trade union of Republic of Srpska

Main activities and links to the health workforce

The Association is formed with a goal to provide, promote and protect the interests and rights of medical doctors, which means to protect the social and material interests and to improve general conditions of life and work of medical doctors of South East Europe. This Association also protects its members and their members during a threatening of the fundamental human and professional rights, and does the propagation of medical profession at all levels. Principal objectives and tasks of the International Association MDSE are the following:

  • protection of the social and material interests of medical doctors of the South East Europe;
  • improving general conditions of life and work of medical doctors;
  • protection of employment rights – salary, social and health care, safety and other rights;
  • representing the interests of medical doctors in labor disputes;
  • the International Association will protect its members and their members during a threatening of the fundamental human and professional rights;
  • protection of professional rights and obligations;
  • assembling and realizing the rights of collective agreement;
  • achievement of solidarity, mutual, as well as with members of other associations, organizations and trade unions of medical doctors, mentioned in Article 2 of this Statute.
