The Israel Forum for International Humanitarian Aid (IsraAID) is a coordinating body of Israeli and Jewish organizations and other interested parties based in Israel who are active in development and relief work and are concerned about global issues. IsraAID was founded at the end of 2001 and consists of more than 35 Israeli and Jewish organizations from many sectors including: humanitarian aid organizations, student and youth movements, industry, solidarity movements, religious organizations, friendship societies and more. IsraAID's members believe in providing humanitarian aid worldwide to people in need, regardless of religion, race, gender, nationality, age and disabilities.

Main activities

IsraAID concentrates on increasing awareness among the Israeli public regarding the needs of people in distress around the world to expand the scope of volunteers and donations for solutions.

Other goals of IsraAID are as follows:

  • To provide aid with full respect to culture and custom of the beneficiaries, while building on local capacities and involving program beneficiaries in the process.
  • To nurture and strengthen the independence, reliability and unique approach of each member organization in the forum in a non-political manner.
  • To serve as a professional venue for members of the Forum for information and knowledge sharing and professional training in aspects of international humanitarian aid.

Links to the health workforce crisis

IsraAID is an international NGO, focusing on education for HIV and AIDS prevention. Major areas of work include: education, conflict areas and non-formal education youth settings. This unique operation is strong in capacity building and training. IsraAID is conducted in cooperation with respected international bodies, such as the World Health Organization and UNAIDS.
