The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) is a collaboration between the University of Washington and the University of California, San Francisco. It is a center in the University of Washington's Department of Global Health and has offices throughout Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. I-TECH's 600 worldwide staff work in partnership with local ministries of health, universities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), medical facilities, and other organizations to support the development of a skilled health work force and well-organized national health delivery systems
Main activities
I-TECH's activities occur primarily in the following technical areas:
- Health system strengthening;
- Health workforce development;
- Operations research and evaluation;
- Prevention, care, and treatment of infectious diseases.

High profile projects include: HIV clinical mentoring and iSante electronic medical record in Haiti, clinical mentoring and major institutional master planning and design of an outpatient facility ($5,000,000 USD) to maximize clinical care and teaching; development and implementation of an entire curriculum for the technios de medicina; evaluation of PEPAR’s impact on the health system in Uganda; task shifting of HIV prescribing to nurses in Ethiopia, Namibia and South Africa, rapid scale up of circumcision in Botswana and use of distance learning for CME in Vietnam.
