Member profile

Kiara College at inception was primarily a Health and Social Care and Skills for Life training institution. However, further successful development and expansion has produced an increasingly diversified and expanded training and educational curriculum. Its key mission is to provide training opportunities for learners that guide them towards improved wellbeing, employability and economic prosperity.

Kiara College is part of a group of companies that seek to meet individual needs holistically. Kiara Personnel is a recruitment agency, Active Support and Care is a community mental health and employment support service. Kiara Homes is set up as a residential accommodation for people with mental health issues

Main activities

Kiara College was contracted by the UK Skills Funding Agency to deliver vocational training in the following areas; Health and Social Care, Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Cleaning and Support Services, Retail, Business Administration, Customer Service, Security, Leadership and Management in Care and Information Technology. We also offer Numeracy, Literacy and English for Speakers of Other Language in addition to numerous Continuous Personal Professional Development courses.

We support workforce development of various organisations; especially Small and Medium size Enterprises. We are running Brain Gain projects in Africa. We visited and researched the workforce needs in the following countries; Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.

We have initiated Brain Gain projects in developing countries. We are establishing a branch of our college in Kigali, Rwanda later this year (2012) in effort to support workforce development in the Health Care sector in this country.

We presently have a project to train Community Mental Health workers in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.
