Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, And Research Institute, India

Member profile

The hospital project was initiated in 1999 by Dr. Nitu Mandke as a large scale heart hospital. The Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute, which became operational in early 2008, is one of country’s premier healthcare initiatives in the private sector. Located at Four Bungalows, Andheri – west in the bustling heart of India’s financial metropolis Mumbai, the sprawling facility will support specialization across the realm of clinical medicine. In concept and design, the new venture has been inspired by the values and vision of the legendary founder, late Shri Dhirubhai, who believed that India’s private sector had a critical part to play in redrawing the healthcare map of the country.

Links to the health workforce crisis

Healthcare, for Shri Dhirubhai, was not just about expensive diagnostics or the latest in medical research and technology. It was as much about the human dimension, the values and processes that determine the character of a medical institution, and the quality of care and services it offers. In keeping with the Founder's idea, Kokilaben Hospital, pays special attention to the qualitative dimension of healthcare delivery even as it pursues the goal of leadership in knowledge and excellence in the choice of personnel and technology.
