- assist the University of Liberia's schools of Pharmacy and General Medicine with acquiring the educational materials needed including text books, computers, laboratory equipment.
ML's mission is to provide and support charitable and humanitarian services, facilities and related activities in Liberia.
Main activities
ML envisions an oasis of professional health care, service, and learning in the well-staffed and well-supplied Community Health Clinic outside of Monrovia, Liberia. This will be a thriving environment for trained staff to serve the health needs of the community, and to extend that learning and service out into the neighboring communities. ML supports several direct aid projects. It sends in the way of food, medicine, clothing and shoes. The outreach center is the base of operations for health education, and distribution of aid. Its end goal is to complete two additional floors to be used as space for educational programs and dormitories for visiting health care professionals. To enhance the well being of all Liberians through available health care for all, Mission to Liberia will supply the medical and pharmaceutical schools of Liberia with current educational materials, tools and supplies. Once completed its outreach center outside of Monrovia will be available to Liberians as a teaching/training facility.
Links to the health workforce crisis
ML is committed to providing sustainable solutions for the health care delivery system in Liberia. Years of civil conflict have taken a huge toll on infrastructure. Liberia is in the second year of a "Five Year Plan" developed in conjunction with World Health Organization. ML's representatives met with the Ministry of Health to ascertain the most effective way it could help Liberia to solve some of its most pressing problems. After discussions with high level Government officials, ML concluded that its efforts should be concentrated towards improving the number and quality of health care professionals within Liberia. ML intends to address this problem by sending the vital tools needed to equip and train students dedicated to making their contributions towards better health care for all. ML also plans to work with colleges and universities in the United States to provide educational opportunities for Liberian students and teachers. Those opportunities include student/teacher exchanges, on line workshops, curriculum support, etc.
