Member profile
Northwest Health Foundation (NWHF) is a conversion organization: independent and charitable, funded with assets resulting from the sale of Oregon’s nonprofit PACC Health Plans. It has been investing in health care programs and projects since 1997. NWHF’s mission is to advance, support and promote the health of the people of Oregon and southwest Washington.
Main activities
The Northwest Health Foundation’s approach to public health is based in the fundamental principle that a robust system is a vital component of a healthy community. It supports efforts to drive improvements in the public health system, with a particular focus on building and mobilizing an advocacy network. NWHF achieves this mission in a variety of ways including grant making, technical assistance and training for nonprofits, convening, commissioning research, and supporting policy advocacy.
Links to the health workforce crisis
Northwest Health Foundation works to build adequate numbers of educated and trained human resources for health, capable of responding to the complex health and health care needs of an increasingly diverse and aging society. Besides many fundraising events and training session, NWHF develop appropriate resources for nursing and other health professions in the United States.
