Member profile

Teesside University has a large and diverse School of Health and Social Care in a UK University, providing training for healthcare workers, research and consultancy through our Unit for Health Workforce Development.

Main activities

We have 13,000 students on pre-registration and post-registration courses across a wide range of professions and specialisms, both in the UK and on a trans-national basis. This is supported by a strong research portfolio in public health, rehabilitation and nursing. Our consultancy work includes development of bespoke training packages to upskill the health workforce.

Links to the health workforce crisis

We have delivered programmes in Kuala Lumpur, working with professional bodies to ensure appropriate design. Our top-up degrees in Malaysia and more recently, Zambia enable diploma-trained healthcare professionals to upgrade skills of evidence-based practice, professional decision-making and leadership to enable the professions to develop academically and professionally.
