Vaatsalya Healthcare, India

Member profile

While 70% of India is living in semi-urban and rural areas, 80% of India’s healthcare facilities are located in urban/metro areas. Vaatsalya is bridging this gap by building and managing hospitals/clinics in semi-urban and rural areas and bringing healthcare services where it is needed most. Vaatsalya Hospitals provide affordable services in an efficient and friendly environment at Hubli, Gadag, Karwar, Bijapur, Mandya, Raichur and Hassan (Karnataka) with plans to expand to 25 locations over the next three years.

Main activities

Vaatsalya is the new FACE of healthcare, with focus on Friendliness in Service, Affordability in Cost, Cleanliness in Settings and Efficiency in Operations. We currently run primary and secondary care hospitals all over Karnataka, and are entering Maharastra and Andhra Pradesh. At each of our hospitals, we provide primary and secondary care with emphasis on prevention. Basic specialties at each hospital include paediatrics, gynaecology, medicine, surgery and physiotherapy. In addition we are leaders in providing dialysis services in North Karnataka.

Links to the health workforce crisis

On this World Health Day, Vaatsalya has taken a pledge again to make the theme for this year an integral part of the daily lives and on behalf of all the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospitals, they will rededicate themselves to focus on the mission to make healthcare affordable and accessible. Vaatsalya is the first private organization focused on bridging the healthcare accessibility gap by concentrating on the semi-urban and rural healthcare market in India. Its focus is on primary and secondary healthcare services combined with community based health plans to bring affordable healthcare to families. Vaatsalya’s goal is to integrate efficient healthcare delivery practices with community based health plans and, ultimately bring affordable, efficient and standardized medical services to semi-urban and rural India.
