Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) is a Foundation, incorporated under Uzbek law by Decree 22 “About the Westminster International University in Tashkent” approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 16 January 2002. The objective of establishing WIUT was to provide an international standard of Higher Education in Uzbekistan to enable citizens of Uzbekistan and other countries to obtain an internationally recognized Bachelor education in Business, Business Computing, Economics and Law, all validated by the University of Westminster. The courses will be developed in phases. Its mixture of international staff and internationally trained local staff enables WIUT to engage with the latest international developments to provide a range of services relevant for the local market.
Main activities
WIUT is the first Central Asian international university to employ international practices in library provision. The learning philosophy of Independent Learning requires extensive support for students. Both in our individual research and university wide projects we are developing original research into a range of issues, particularly in the fields of economics, business, law, business computing and education. Our multimedia studio has carried out a number of multimedia projects with local and international partners and can provide a range of specialized products.

Westminster International University in Tashkent is uniquely placed to participate in drawing from international experience in addressing the issues critical to the development of Uzbekistan and more broadly Central Asia. The University has been implementing a range of projects in the areas of business and education training and educational reform partnering with a range of organizations. WIUT offers a range of training and consultancy services, tailored to the needs of the clients.
