Great Debates: World Health Day 2005
On World Health Day 2005, WHO encouraged 12 countries to organize debates to highlight the maternal and child health challenges in their regions. These "Great Debates" brought together consumers, technical experts, civil society organizations and policy makers to discuss how best to tackle this invisible health crisis.

7 April 2005 | Chennai, India -- Nurses from various hospitals were invited and a workshop was conducted on maternal and child health care. Group discussion were organized as well as visiting mothers in the ward, talking with parents to parents about health issues which their children faced. We plan to continue this activity after World Health Day 2005.

At an event hosted by the Ministry of Health Republic of Serbia, speeches were made by the Minister of Health, the Directors of WHO and UNICEF country offices, as well as relevant experts in the field of maternal and child health.
