Great Debates: World Health Day 2005

On World Health Day 2005, WHO encouraged 14 countries to organize debates to highlight the maternal and child health challenges in their regions. These "Great Debates" brought together consumers, technical experts, civil society organizations and policy makers to discuss how best to tackle this invisible health crisis.

The 14 countries which hosted Great Debates were Armenia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Latvia, Mongolia, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Argentina, Russia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Evaluation is in progress to summarize the outcomes of these debates. Please see summaries below.
