After practicing pediatric medicine for six years, Dr Leena Pasanen left her native Finland for the Ilemba Lutheran Hospital, in rural Tanzania. She has been caring for the children and adults of this remote district for the past 25 years.
Dr Pasanenhas witnessed the devastating impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa. She says this only strengthens her will to continue helping the children of Tanzania in any way she can.
