"Access to medical care improves a population’s quality of life."
"[The medical profession] does engender a lot of faith and deep satisfaction."
One of Haiti’s first woman doctors, Dr Dreyfuss-Hudicourt is an anatomical pathologist and the mother of 11 children. But she feels her greatest achievement has been her involvement in the Haitian Health and Education Foundation. In raising funds for the Foundation, she contributed to opening a hospital to provide health care to the poor in the township of Petion-Ville. The Foundation also provides public health information through a mobile health clinic.
Now in her late 70s, Dr Dreyfuss-Hudicourt still plays an active part in the running of the hospital, which she is planning to have expanded.
