"A patient must always feel that there is a friend by his side who understands him perfectly, a person whom be can trust and who will help him."
"There is nothing like the joy of returning a patient to good health."
Epidemiologist and infectious disease expert Dr Valentin Pokrovski was the first person in Russia to describe and tackle HIV/AIDS. President of the Russian Academy of Medical Science, he finds that medical practice has gotten more difficult in recent times: “Technology has widened the distance between the patient and the physician,” he complains.
In his continuing efforts to bridge that gap, Dr Prokovski’s passion for medicine has only increased over the years – a passion he is proud to have passed down to his son Vadim.
