A new campaign started on 14 June with the slogan “Ensemble, inversons la tendance …Donnons notre sang” (Together, let’s beat the trend … let’s give blood). Promotional material, including posters, balloons, information folders, and television spots were made for the occasion.

This material was available for use by donors and blood donation promoters, who were asked to hand it out in public places, such as train and bus stations, bakers’ shops, hairdressing salons, food stores, and so on. In addition, by means of their web site, the Belgian Red Cross Blood Service asked some 100 000 of its voluntary donors to help out by downloading and displaying posters about World Blood Donor Day.

In collaboration with IHECS (Institut des hautes études de communications sociales) of Brussels, a brief amusing video spot acted to raise public awareness about blood donation.
