Lagos State Blood Transfusion Committee (Ministry of Health) celebrated World Blood Donor Day over two days. On Tuesday 13 June, there was an early morning start to the celebrations with a Health Walk. That was followed by a Symposium involving mainly young people. The topic was “Blood Donation: A challenge to Nigerian youth”. There was a film show and drama, and a blood drive.
On 14 June, at an event where all participants wore special T-shirts and facecaps, the keynote address entitled “Blood, Blood, Everywhere: Not enough to Give”, was followed by a presentation of awards to regular voluntary blood donors. The entertainment was a drama and raffle draw, followed by a blood drive.
