The Blood Services Programme of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in collaboration with the Voluntary Blood Donor’s Club in Sierra Leone commemorated World Blood Donor Day on 14 June.
The theme for the celebration this year was “Commitment to ensure universal access to safe blood”. The Ministry of Health and Sanitation, together with its partner organizations, pledged its commitment to provide high standards of care at each stage of the transfusion process. Donor club members committed to continue to donate blood on a regular and voluntary basis, and to encourage other healthy individuals to become regular unpaid blood donors.
