Since the establishment of World Blood Donor Day in 2004, the World Health Organization, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations and International Society of Blood Transfusion, have worked collaboratively to promote voluntary blood donation through the celebration of World Blood Donor Day and other events.
