Biography

Alyannah Lagasca is a multi-awarded Filipino leader with over fifteen years of experience in youth participation, governance, and social service, with a strong focus on mental health advocacy. As the National Chairperson of the Youth for Mental Health Coalition, Inc., she leads efforts to combat the stigma surrounding mental health through policy interventions, psychoeducation, service delivery facilitation, and sustainable community-based initiatives. She is also an active contributor to key mental health frameworks, including the Mental Health Act and the strategic plan on mental health, through her involvement in various technical working groups of the Philippine Council on Mental Health.

Beyond her mental health work, Alyannah leads the convening of the Healthy Philippines Alliance, a coalition dedicated to preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through public education and sustainable campaigns. These initiatives tackle critical health issues, including tobacco and vape use, alcoholism, sugary drinks, unhealthy lifestyles, and illegal drug use.

A passionate advocate for planetary health, Alyannah also champions efforts for a just transition, ensuring that well-being and environmental sustainability are prioritized. She is also passionate for good governance and is currently serving as Trustee of the Galing Pook Foundation.

Her leadership extends to global platforms, where she has represented the Philippines in various international programs and discussions. Recognized for her unwavering commitment to social change, Alyannah has received numerous accolades, including the ASEAN Youth Award and the Ashoka Fellowship. Her work seamlessly integrates mental health, youth empowerment, planetary and public health advocacy, and sustainable development, all in pursuit of a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
