Dr Andreea Creanga
Biography
Dr. Andreea Creanga is an Associate Professor in the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) in Baltimore, USA, and holds a joint faculty appointment with the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She currently serves as Director of the Maryland Maternal Health Innovation Program and Associate Director of the International Center for Maternal and Newborn Health at JHSPH. Her work is focused on maternal mortality and morbidity measurement, and the design and evaluation of quality improvement interventions in obstetrics, both domestically and internationally. Previously, she led the US Pregnancy Mortality Surveillance System at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and served as member of the Maternal Mortality Review Committee in Georgia; since 2016, she serves in the Maternal Mortality Review Committee in Maryland. Throughout her career, Dr. Creanga has conducted research and evaluation work in countries like Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Romania, and Uganda. Her work has been funded by US federal agencies (AHRQ, CDC, HRSA, NIH, USAID) and donors such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Packard Foundation, and UN agencies.
