Professor Andrew Rambaut

Biography

Andrew Rambaut is an evolutionary biologist specialising in the molecular evolution and epidemiology of human and animal viruses. He has particularly focused on reconstructing the origins and dynamics of viral epidemics using phylogenetic reconstruction from genome sequences. After gaining his BSc in Zoology from the University of Edinburgh and then his PhD in Zoology from University of Oxford in 1997 he has held a faculty position at the University of Edinburgh since 2006 and has been the Professor of Molecular Evolution since 2010.
