Anjumanara Omar
Biography
Dr Anjumanara Omar is a lecturer and consultant pediatric Endocrinologist and Diabetologist at the University of Nairobi with interest in Childhood Diabetes.
She has over 12 years’ experience in clinical practice as well as public health advocacy to create awareness on diabetes and healthy eating while advocating for proper management to reduce complications related to diabetes.
She has participated in various National and International conferences and has a number of articles published in relation to Type 1 Diabetes in children.
She is a member of Peadiatric Endocrine Society of Kenya and African Society of Peadiatric and Adolescent Endocrinology and a member of technical committee for PETCA Endocrine fellowship program. She has participated in the development of the National Diabetes manual for the health care providers working in remote areas of Kenya.
Dr Omar focus is mainly on Endocrinology and Diabetes in children and Adolescents. She runs the Endocrine and Diabetes clinic at Kenyatta National Hospital which is the largest tertiary referral Hospital in East Africa. She teaches Endocrine disorders and Diabetes to undergraduate, postgraduate and fellow students at the University of Nairobi, School of Medicine. She is aware of the challenges patients find with procuring insulin due to cost implications.
