Prof Anna Y. Popova
Biography
Prof. Popova is the Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being (Rospotrebnadzor) and Chief State Sanitary Physician of the Russian Federation. Prof. Popova is an expert epidemiologist with specialties in hygiene, evaluation of health risks and hygienic safety. She has authored over 70 scientific articles and over 50 regulatory and procedural documents. During the Ebola crisis in Africa, she organized the deployment of Rospotrebnadzor specialists in Guinea. She initiated the joint project between Rospotrebnadzor and FAO aimed at AMR prevention in the countries of Eurasian Economic Union and Tajikistan, which would result in training specialists from countries in Central Asia and strengthening their monitoring systems and national laboratories. Prof. Popova is currently Deputy Head of the operational headquarters for addressing COVID-19 in Russia. She received her Ph.D. from Rostov State Medical University.
