Arunaloke Chakrabarti is working as the advisor of World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Reference and Research of Fungi of Medical Importance (IND-99). He is the Ex-Head and Professor of the Department of Medical Microbiology of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, India, where he was also In-Charge of the Center of Advance Research in Medical Mycology, and the National Culture Collection of Pathogenic Fungi. He mentors in the development of Mycology Reference Laboratories in India and SEAR member countries.

As an expert in medical mycology, Professor Chakrabarti is the international coordinator of ISHAM Working Group on Fungal Sinusitis and Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis. He is Chairman of the Fungal Infection Study Forum and international adviser of the Global Action for Fungal Infection (GAFFI). He has published 503 papers in the field of fungal diseases and edited two books in the field of fungal disease. His h index is 86 (Scholar) and 68 (Scopus). He serves as section editor/editor/associate editor/deputy editor of four journals: Mycoses, Medical Mycology, Current Fungal Infections Report.
