Dr Bhawana Amatya

Dr. Bhawana Amatya MBBS (TU), MD (TU-IOM) CTH®, FJNMA, is a consultant General Practitioner and Travel Medicine Expert from Kathmandu, Nepal. 

She has been working at CIWEC Hospital and Travel Medicine Center, Kathmandu as a general practitioner since 2016. Since 2019, she has served as the site co-director of the Kathmandu GeoSentinel Site. She has worked in emergency medicine, infectious diseases, altitude illness, and in-patient care. She is the primary author and co-author of numerous international and national publications.

She obtained her post-graduate MD General Practice degree from the prestigious Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, Nepal. She got her undergraduate medical degree (MBBS) from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. She also has the title Certificate in Travel HealthTM from the International Society of Travel Medicine (USA) and Fellow of the Journal of Nepal Medical Association (FJNMA). She is the Website Development Lead in the new GeoSentinel website. She is experienced in data analysis with R and SPSS and has received national and international training in scientific writing and editing, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and research methodology. She has been a speaker and presenter in several international and national conferences.
