Bindi Borg
Biography
Bindi Borg has a PhD in Public Health Nutrition with a focus on infant and young child feeding. Her doctoral research was on the acceptability and effectiveness of a locally produced ready-to-use supplementary food (RUSF) for the prevention of undernutrition in children under two years in Cambodia. Dr Borg has collaborated with UNICEF, WHO, WFP and the Infant Feeding in Emergencies Network on infant and young child nutrition.
Dr Borg has over twenty years of professional experience in humanitarian and development assistance with various organisations (UN, INGO, donor, intergovernmental and academic) in South and South-East Asia, the Pacific, the Balkans and West Africa. Her experience is across multiple sectors including nutrition, health and gender. Dr Borg is a certified breastfeeding counsellor and educator with fifteen years of practice in high-, low- and middle-income countries, and experience in face-to-face, group, telephone and email counselling in community and hospital settings. She has trained and mentored breastfeeding counsellors and healthcare workers and is active in monitoring and reporting WHO Code violations. In addition to her PhD, Dr Borg has degrees in International and Community Development (MA), Political Science (MA), and Peace and Conflict Studies (BA).
