Dr Blerta Maliqi
Biography
With more than two decades of professional experience, Dr Maliqi has dedicated her career to advancing health systems development and improving quality of care globally.
From 2017-2023, she successfully led the design and implementation of the Network for Improving the Quality of Care for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health. Dr Maliqi has been instrumental in shaping global health strategies for maternal, newborn and child health. She played a key role in the development and implementation of the H6 Partnership since 2008 and the operationalization of the UN Commission on Life Saving Commodities in 2013. She continues to engage with policymakers, implementers and partners, providing strategic leadership and technical support to guide the development and implementation of health policies and programmes.
A strong believer in the power of partnerships and collaboration, Dr Maliqi has contributed to global analytical reports, tool development, and programmatic and implementation guidance. She has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed articles contributing to the knowledge base on global health and health systems strengthening. A medical doctor by training, she holds a PhD in health systems management and a Master's degree in health management, planning and policy.
