Mr Bruce Gordon
Biography
Mr Bruce Gordon is Director ai of the Department of Environment, Climate Change, One Health and Migration (ECO) and Unit Head of Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) and Health at the World Health Organization.
His work focuses on the environmental determinants of health, pollution prevention, and climate resilience. He has overseen the development of WHO guidelines on drinking-water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as global monitoring of WASH systems, services and related health outcomes. He has served as the Vice Chair of UN-Water, advancing its UN System-wide Strategy for Water and Sanitation.
Prior to joining the WASH unit in 2004, he contributed to WHO’s work on sustainable development with a focus on children’s health and environment. He has an academic background in biochemistry and environmental management.
Bruce is married, has three daughters and is an avid climber who enjoys being outdoors in nature.
