Biography

Bwambale Benard is a Public Health Nutritionist and Dietitian with over seven years of specialized experience in food safety, nutrition policy, emergency nutrition, and sustainable food systems in Uganda. Currently, he serves as Head of Programs at the Global Consumer Center (CONSENT) and as National Coordinator for the Food Safety Coalition of Uganda. In these roles, he spearheads strategic initiatives to promote consumer protection, healthy diets, and food safety standards through evidence-based policy reforms.

His expertise encompasses developing technical frameworks, advocating for regulatory modifications, and fostering multi-stakeholder engagement at national and international levels. Mr Bwambale has contributed significantly to addressing food security, nutritional outcomes, and noncommunicable disease prevention via research, policy analysis, awareness creation, and capacity building. He has represented consumer interests on technical standards committees and led the development of IEC materials and research protocols that inform regulatory frameworks.

His academic background includes a Master of Public Health, a Bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and ongoing doctoral studies in Human Nutrition at Kyambogo University. His strategic leadership, technical acumen, and commitment to nutrition policy development position him as a valuable contributor to global efforts in establishing guidelines on ultra-processed food consumption.
