Camila Corvalán

Biography

Dr Camila Corvalán is full professor at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology (INTA), where she leads the Center for Research in Food Environments and Nutrition-related Chronic Diseases (CIAPEC). Her work focuses on the early origins of obesity and diet-related noncommunicable diseases, with a strong emphasis on translating research into public programs and policies. She coordinates the INFORMAS network in Chile and leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to designing and evaluating food policies, including the landmark Chilean Food Labelling and Marketing Law.

Dr Corvalán has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and serves as an advisor to national and international organizations on food and nutrition policy. She has been recognized with several honours, including the Chilean Academy of Medicine Award and the Nevin Scrimshaw Award from IUNS. She currently serves as President of the Latin American Society of Nutrition (SLAN).
