Dr Charles Ameh

Biography

Dr Charles Ameh is a Nigerian born obstetrician/gynaecologist, and Associate Professor in Global Health at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) with 20 years of experience in Global Health research. He is the co-Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in MNH and deputy head International public health department at LSTM. He is a member of WHO Maternal, Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response Technical Working Group and a member of Africa CDC COVID-19 task force, and case management working group. Dr Ameh provides technical support to the International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists’ (FIGO) ‘Improve access to essential medicines to reduce PPH morbidity and mortality (IAP)’ project. He is an implementation science researcher with research interests in Emergency Obstetric Care capacity strengthening, Obstetric Early Warning Systems, MNH quality of care including Maternal, Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response and Health System Strengthening in low-income countries. Charles is the Guest Editor International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists Post-partum Haemorrhage supplement (2021-2022) and Guest Editor BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth WHO special supplement on (2021-2022).
