Professor Cheng Wang
Biography
Cheng Wang is Vice Director of the Guangdong Provincial Center for Skin Diseases and Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control, China. He also serves as Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevention and Innovations, Vice President of the Dermatology Hospital of Southern Medical University, and Vice Dean of the Global Health Institute at Southern Medical University.
His work focuses on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), implementation science, antimicrobial resistance, and global health. He has led clinical trials and implementation research evaluating innovative STI prevention and testing strategies, including syphilis self-testing and doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (Doxy-PEP).
His research has contributed to evidence generation for STI policy, guidelines, and programme implementation. He has extensive experience in strengthening STI surveillance systems, supporting large-scale public health programmes, and advancing international capacity-building initiatives to improve STI prevention and control.
