Cherita Davis-Moxey
Biography
Dr. Cherita Moxey is a medical physician, a certified public health specialist, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health. She received her credentialing from Dalhousie University, the University of the West Indies, University of South Florida and Harvard University.
Dr. Moxey has held numerous leadership roles at regional and international health fora. Notably, she was Vice Chair of the Strategic Advisory Group for Pan American Health Organization, with responsibility for setting the health agenda and roadmap for the Region of the Americas for the period 2020 to 2024. Also, she currently serves on the Special Subregional Taskforce on Human Resources for Health in the Caribbean. She has extensive knowledge of global and regional health policies and agreements.
Dr. Moxey has been a principal investigator on numerous novel population-based research which have added depth and dimension to our national health profile and to the body of locally generated health data. Dr. Moxey was the champion for advancing the conversation and policy consideration on key health matters; and chaired the national multi-stakeholder committee tasked with exploring possible methodologies and implications for the implementation of a sugar beverage tax. And is the Deputy Chair of the Healthy Bahamas Coalition.
Dr. Cherita Moxey is currently the Lead for the Health Policy & Planning Unit of the Ministry of Health. She has authored the publication titled ‘The Bahamas’ Physician Workforce - Today and Tomorrow’; and co-author of ‘Public Health Policy in The Bahamas’
